Authentic Learning Activities in Middle School Math

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.

In this session, I will share real-world application activities that incorporate writing and cover the following topics:  using receipts to study percents and currency exchange, budgeting and spreadsheets, consumer math and restaurants, coordinate graphs and maps, measurements with sewing projects, measurements with snack recipes, set theory and population data, transformations and quilting along with many others. The audience will actively participate in some of these activities to experience them as a learner.  I will also share my experiences with alternative assessment options like the IF/AT scratch-off cards and QR coded screencasts. Join us to learn how this can be accomplished using a semi-flipped partly self-paced class model of teaching.
