When integrated at the most organic levels, technology enables the instructor and students to approach learning in a manner that redefines the classroom instructional methodology. For this to happen, technology must be more than a simple substitute for conventional tools. Instead, its seamless integration makes its use appear almost secondary to the actual learning targets while enabling the students to accomplish learning in a manner previously not possible. In "Become a SAMR-eyed Warrior in Your Classroom", students will engage in a web conference in which they are partnered with students from another campus to accomplish inquiry-based learning assignments together. There will likely be cross-cultural dimensions that will add depth of understanding to the assignment as students establish a level of familiarity that helps them appreciate the strengths that both groups bring to the dialogue. While collaboration is itself not a new concept in the classroom, accomplishing that across geographical and cultural boundaries is part of what technology facilitates when integrated at this level. The session will include elements of gamification, brief direct instruction, and peer-to-peer inquiry-based learning, and will culminate in a co-authored writing piece possibly published on the students' respective blog or Web sites as a lesson extension.
